Turning a vision into reality
The Children’s Spot is a unique early learning company that believes every child needs a ‘spot’ to foster and enhance the early years of their learning and development.
Victoria Koudsy, Operations Manager at The Children’s Spot, is an expert in interior design for childcare centres. She starts with her design concept, which mirrors the building design and interior architectural design that she partakes in with the architects during building stages.
Following that, she develops the centre’s mission and creates a vision for every room in accordance with that mission. Victoria called on STE Products to help her turn the vision into a reality.
Great track record
‘We opened The Children’s Spot at Wheeler Heights in 2014, partnering with STE for our furniture and resources,’ Victoria explained. ‘We were so impressed with their products, customer service and the after sales experience that we had no hesitation in asking for their help with our Hurstville centre in 2016.
‘In particular, Dan Kennard from STE really listened to us and understood what we wanted to achieve, showing us designs and specifications that would complement our vision. It was all very exciting. Dan was also very flexible and understood when we changed our minds about some products as we moved through the planning process. Nothing was ever a problem.’
Colour sets the tone for the room
Victoria is an advocate of using colour in a meaningful way. ‘Colour runs right through our centre, starting with our paint splat logo. Certain colours will influence children, such as yellow for creativity and red for stimulation. STE custom made table tops in different colours to match the theme for each room, and they look wonderful.’
Custom storage for ultimate style and flexibility
STE Products designed a custom storage solution for The Children’s Spot at Hurstville. ‘We like to have custom furniture at all our centres,’ Victoria said. ‘Our storage units are very flexible in their design, as we can move them around and have separate shelving systems in each room.’
Holistic approach for a home away from home
‘Parents comment on how much thought has clearly gone into the design of our centre,’ Victoria continued. ‘The combination of structured colour and natural timber is quite different to what they expect to see in a childcare centre. We are fortunate to have had a blank canvas to work with, as the centre is brand new and purpose built, which myself, the owners and architects worked on together. It meant we could take a holistic approach and create a rich and stimulating environment that is a real home away from home.’
Ticked all the boxes
When Victoria was setting up the first Children’s Spot, she did a lot of research before selecting a provider. ‘Of course, we looked carefully at pricing and product quality and STE ticked all the boxes. But they do so much more than providing competitive pricing and an efficient ordering service.
‘Once everything is ready for installation, a friendly team come and spend several days at the centre, putting the furniture together and disposing of the packaging. We didn’t need to have any additional tradespeople to help us as STE took care of everything.
‘Overall, I would say the way they listen to our needs, help us translate that into a vibrant childcare centre and provide first class aftersales service is what sets STE Products apart. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dan and the team.’
